Apple Orchard

A huge thank you to PIE who sponsored our field trip to the Ft. Dodge Apple Orchard and Pumpkin Patch. We had so much fun!

We were able to tour the apple orchard and learn all about the different types of apples we even got to pick our own. Next we got to tour were they store the apples and how to make apple cider. Finally we got to taste the apple cider.

After having a great lunch, the field trip was ended by playing in the Back 40 Playground. The kids loved it!

The end to a perfect day!

Tiggly Words

Enjoying Tiggly Words together!
Monsters At School

We read a poem about monsters at school today and then practiced how to write a good sentence. We had to remember that a sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark. Then we read our Monster Mess emergent reader book to our peers after we highlighted our color words and our new sight word "the".

All last week we talked about the 3 ways to read a book: read the words, read the pictures, retell a familiar story.  We practiced all three ways and the students were very excited that they could "read"! You can encourage your child to read by using one of these 3 ways to read a book

Working on team work making cookies!

We loved our cookies!

As a class we read a couple books about filling buckets today during our Social Studies time.
The students learned that EVERYONE has an imaginary bucket. When people are caring and helpful then our bucket gets filled. When people use mean words or hurtful actions then our bucket is emptied.
As a class we took a pledge: I promise to do my best to be a bucket filler at school, at home, and everywhere I go!
Please encourage your child to be a bucket filler in their everyday actions

A week with Pete the Cat

After reading several Pete the Cat books. We practiced retelling a familiar story by using our sequence sheets. We had a great time doing this and the story is VERY familiar now.  You might have seen the sequencing sheets come home.  If you still have yours ask your child to tell you the story!
We also enjoyed reading our literacy book "Pete the Cat I love my shoes"
